Qlicksmart in 2024
2024 has been a year been filled with new additions and successes. The year began with our team growing by three additional employees – Dr Shreya Singh, Dugald Cameron and Ruby Wolfe. In the last five years, we have doubled our staff alone. We are currently pursuing the employment of two additional team members.
With constant engagement with Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) and Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) —prominent Australian government agencies—we have been able to expand our market. In April, we were visited by TIQ CEO Justin McGowan GAICD to launch the 2024 Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards at our office in West End. In June, Qlicksmart was a featured Austrade case study to highlight our world-first innovation and recent successful exports into mainland China.
Qlicksmart widely travelled to attend and present at multiple tradeshows and conferences to meet with professional bodies and potential distributors. Co-Founder, Dr Michael Sinnott, attended and presented in:
- Mexico – 12th International Congress on Quality and Patient Safety
- Nashville, USA – AORN (Association of periOperative Registered Nurses) Global Surgical Conference & Expo
- Wangaratta, Victoria – VPNG Victorian Perioperative Nurses Group Country Conference
- Shanghai, China – China international Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) and featured speaker at 15th China Australia Hospital Forum
- Valencia, Spain – 11th European Operating Room Nurses Association (EORNA) Conference
In addition, Dr Sinnott visited Hong Kong for various meetings and forums with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hospital Authority. Later in the year, we travelled to London and Italy to meet with various contacts at TIQ and the Institute of Podiatry, as well as various potential distributors in hospital networks.
This past year we were honoured to be nominated as a finalist across multiple award shows in Queensland. At the 2024 Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards, we were finalists in the International Health category for a consecutive year. In 2023, we were winners of this category and Dr Chamindika Konara, Qlicksmart’s General Manager, was awarded the Women in International Business Award for her commitment to local innovation and gender equality in Queensland’s biomedical sector.
Last month, we attended the 2024 Lord Mayor’s Brisbane Awards as finalists in the Coraggio International Business Award category. Another brilliant reflection of our products, company and hard-working team.
Finally, we have had the privilege of participating in three different delegations in 2024. In June, we met with the Director General of Shanghai Hospital Development Centre, Professor Xingpeng Wang, and the Shenkang Delegation at the Translational Research Institute Australia (TRI). This delegation allowed us to connect with healthcare professionals and advocate for staff and patient safety in Shanghai.
In October, we had the pleasure of hosting healthcare professionals and workers in healthcare health and safety from Hong Kong at the Herston Biofabrication Institute (HBI), thanks to Metro North Health. An enriching experience where we shared the Qlicksmart product range and advocacy with like-minded professionals. In November, Qlicksmart returned to HBI to meet with the Shanghai General Hospital Delegation led by Professor Qin Jing.
Thank you to all who assisted in organising all these delegations: TIQ, Austrade, Inter-lab, Shanghai Hospital Development Centre, HKPC – Hong Kong Productivity Council, Shanghai General Hospital and Queensland Health.
From all the team at Qlicksmart, thank you for your continued support for staff and patient safety. Have a happy holidays and happy New Year from the Qlicksmart team!
